Plain-language guide
People often call this a VA “clawback.” Formally, it is an adjustment that withholds or recoups VA compensation for the same number of days you received military training pay. You generally cannot retain both payments for those overlapping days.

Military pay per UTA or active-duty day is monthly basic pay ÷ 30. This tool also estimates daily VA value as monthly VA ÷ 30.
The spread is a planning aid—not net take-home pay. It does not account for taxes, deductions, allowances, bonuses, or special pays.

Allowances (including BAH/BAS), bonuses, special and incentive pays, travel reimbursements, taxes, SGLI, TSP, debt deductions, special monthly compensation, added children, and spouse Aid and Attendance unless captured in the monthly VA override.
